Hello,
My name is Matthijs
developer
and this is my resume
Experiences
Freelance Full Stack Senior Developer
Re-educate developers to a Laravel and Vue stack, setting up and introducing Docker with MSSQL and technically coaching multiple teams in a complete rebuild of their older systems from scratch. One of the biggest challenges was building the packages for the JSON schema form builder. This was due to the extreme complexity in the forms needed in the insurance industry.
Freelance full stack developer
Updating Docker images, setting up tests and envirionment, upgrading through package manager, bug squashing
Freelance full-stack developer
Built the CMS in Laravel + Vue and API + swagger v3 for an advanced app in Flutter and Firebase.
Freelance full-stack developer
High traffic WP/Woocommerce/Laravel sites with Docker as backbone. Learned a lot and optimized loads to keep the WP platform running.

Teacher application development
Blessed and happy to be able to teach in Amsterdam Zuid-oost. During this period I was able to raise the success rate from 33% to a staggering 95% (country average 65%) and was able to advance the teachings to the newest techniques which are unavailable in other similar schools. During this time I was chosen teacher of the year.
All round engineer
As volenteer at the repaircafe we repair all kinds of devices. From blenders to watches and wooden chairs to stereo's. I do this once a month which gives me great joy. Each time we learn a little from each other.
Senior full-stack developer
NoProtocol is an excellent company where you get a lot of freedom to develop your skills. Personally I have grown into the role of senior developer and created projects with Angular, React + Redux, Vue + Vuex, Laravel, SASS, webpack and many other techniques.
Full-stack developer
Mostly backend related projects. Some required more frontend tech. The project were diverce and written in vanilla PHP, HTML, CSS2/3, jQuery and MySQL.
CTO / Owner
Appy2help is a PHP/MySQL/Bootstrap/jQuery/jQmobile written white label CMS platform to create apps in. The apps could be loaded into tablets and phones from where they ran offline. The customer base consisted of hotels. For this project I've written everything from apps to backend.
Sales manager
For Vellance I redefined the sales environment. In the time I managed that part of the company we doubled our revenue multiple times over the years. Our customer base consisted of advertisement agencies which made heavy custom platforms obligatory. We had our own cloud in the racks and we wrote our own software.
UNIX system engineer
Mostly serviced all FreeBSD systems in the network and installing and setting up the new servers in the DC. With that I helped in building the software systems to match the companies neccessities. The systems we worked with were from Cisco, NetApp and Supermicro.
VIP helpdesk employee
I was responsible for the daily IT grind of the structured finance department. This department had special needs which we could supply by writing and executing custom bash code to make the system more accessible to their needs. Besides this we also did desktop servicing and moving tasks.
About me
Allow me to introduce myself. I am a technical extrovert with a passion for clear programming and communication. My specialization lies in full-stack web development, especially in high-traffic environments and efficiency, following the clean code concept. My code is considered to be very clear and neat, and I always find the right solution where others do not (quickly) think of it.
I have a passion for designing and building clear UIs and building the desired design pixel-perfect. I am also able to explain the pros and cons of the chosen approach and the trade-offs involved. My thought process is very quick and clear, thanks in part to my colorful work history.
I really enjoy working in a team. I am often seen as the lead, although this is by no means a requirement. I am a full-fledged team player, and as a team lead, I am perceived as pleasant, funny, and still serious. My character is highly appreciated in the workplace: hardworking, persistent, serious, funny, always cheerful, positive, realistic, motivating, and goal-oriented.
If you would like to see my code, I recommend checking out my Github. This site is also there, and the underlying CMS is also built by me and is available there too.
Education
Online course - Wordpress
Since a large part of the stack at my previous employer consisted of WP I did a short course to get going.
Online course - Vue + Vuex
For building SPA's with better readability and more maintainable code
Online course - React + Redux
React was the first to market with a store principle. I've used it a lot, but since then it got replaced by Vue
Angular 1
Maintainable JS code and market trends. Has been replaced by Vue
Online course - Laravel
Ideal to leave vanilla PHP and upgrade to a framework. I started at v4 and have been using this a my go-to framework to build with. With that I've built packages and contributed to the code.
Course - .NET
Ordered a .NET course and got going. Finished the course in 2008.
Course - Amstel: Well tapped beer
During my days working in restaurants I did this course. I can and may tap the perfect beer. Just saying.
Technical IT - Bachelor study
Although I did not finish the study, it did create a basis for my interest in programming. The first language I learned was Visual Basic 5. This got replaced by VB6.
Electronics - Trade school
After completing lower school I chose to go into electronics since this fancied my technical side during that time. I did not complete the school, but a lot sticked and it is still a hobby.
